An Arkansas man known locally as the "go-to cowboy" lived up to his name when he rescued a stranded calf on a frozen pond with his lasso.

Max Bishop is the man to call for animal rescues in Paragould, Arkansas. So, when word came through about a distressed calf on a neighbor's farm, he and his partner sprang into action.

"We found the best angle for a 70-foot throw," Bishop recalled, "and managed to get it roped and pulled safely across the ice."
