A beachgoer in Florida had to go to a trauma center after a rental umbrella impaled their leg, according to officials.
The incident happened around 2:52 p.m. on June 22 in Cocoa Beach, Florida, the Cocoa Beach Fire said Thursday in a news release the department shared on Facebook.
The injury occurred when the rental umbrella dislodged from the sand, the fire department said.
To take the object out of the beachgoer's leg, emergency responders removed the canopy from the umbrella and cut the pole to "minimize movement," according to the release.
Once stable, the beachgoer was taken to the trauma facility for further treatment, the fire department said.
